This photo set contains coverage of the August 2009 Adult Soapbox Derby, which is held at Mt. Tabor Park in Portland Oregon. During this annual summer event the drivers of home-made coaster cars careen down the roadways in the park towards the finish line. While there are some rules about the safety features that the cars must have, there are no rules as to what the drivers and their crews can wear. As you'll see in the photos the drivers and crews sported flamboyant costumes while piloting their creative and innovative coaster vehicles. Great fun on a hot summer day...
